From Bombay to Frisco: Why We Chose Texas for Our United States Expansion

Bombay to Frisco

The doors are wide open, the aromas are already swirling through the air, and Kailash Parbat is officially part of the Frisco dining scene. Standing on Coit Road and surrounded by the unmistakable energy of North Texas, our new home feels both fresh and familiar. It’s like a crossroads where Bombay street flavors meet Lone Star hospitality. Walk in on any evening and you will hear bursts of laughter, see families debating which chaat to try first, and feel the joyful hum that only a truly community-minded eatery can create.

Our Story Begins in the Streets of Bombay

Before Frisco was even on our roadmap, the journey started with a single pushcart in 1950s, run by the Mulchandani brothers. That little cart eventually evolved into a full-service restaurant that preserved the legacy of Sindhi comfort food while adding modern flair. Over eight decades, the brand grew to more than seventy-five outlets across Asia, Europe, and North America, always guided by the same mission: to serve vegetarian cuisine that delights both traditionalists and culinary explorers.

Why Texas and Why Now

Texas is larger than life in every sense. Friendly people, confident flavors, and a booming food culture that rewards bold ideas. We discovered that Texans approach meals the same way that  Bombayites do: no rush, plenty of conversation, and a shared joy in unexpected spice. Frisco, in particular, stands at the intersection of innovation and community spirit. The city’s diverse residents regularly seek global fare and value memorable dining moments. That curiosity convinced us the time was right to plant roots here.

Building a Home in Frisco

We searched Dallas-Fort Worth for the ideal neighborhood and kept circling back to Frisco. High-growth developments, reliable visitor traffic from sports and tech events, and a family-first atmosphere sealed the decision. Our team designed the interior with warm wood finishes, vibrant hand-painted murals, and cozy nooks that echo our flagship Mumbai outlet yet feel unmistakably Texan. Local artisans created tabletops, while our kitchen imports proprietary spice blends straight from India to ensure consistency across continents.

The Menu: Street Food, Comfort Classics, and Fan Favorites

At Kailash Parbat you will find the legendary pani puri shots that launched an empire, but you can also savor towering chole bhature, paper-thin dosas, and melt-in-your-mouth paneer tikka. For sweet endings, dive into our signature kulfi falooda or the classic ras malai. Every dish remains vegetarian by tradition, yet nothing feels restricted. Instead you discover layers of umami through roasted spices, slow-simmered gravies, and house-pressed coconut milk. Even lifelong meat lovers have left dinners with us amazed at just how satisfying plant-forward cuisine can be.

The Texas Touch

Respecting local produce is non-negotiable. Our chefs visited farmers markets in Collin and Denton counties to source sweet corn for chaats and vine-ripened tomatoes for our creamy sauces. While the recipes remain rooted in Bombay, produce that travels fewer miles simply tastes better. You will notice bursts of Texas-grown mint in chilled masala lemonade.

Beyond the Plate: Hospitality That Feels Like Home

A meal at Kailash Parbat should feel like dinner at an old friend’s home. Comfortable, welcoming, and slightly celebratory. Hosts greet you by name on subsequent visits, and our servers are happy to walk first-timers through the menu.

A Gateway for Cultural Discovery

Food is storytelling. When guests bite into our pav bhaji for the first time, they taste the soul of Bombay’s stalls. When they sip rose syrup-laced falooda, they glimpse vintage cafés. We view Kailash Parbat Frisco as a cultural gateway. It’s an invitation to experience India’s street theater of flavors without booking a sixteen-hour flight.

What Lies Ahead

Opening week reminded us why expansion is worth every challenge. Tables filled faster than expected, and we spotted happy dance moves when the guests had their first bite. As we settle in, expect rotating chef specials celebrating regional Indian staples. Our mission remains constant, and that is to introduce more families to the vibrant world of vegetarian cuisine and prove that flavor thrives when tradition meets innovation.
